CATALES has created a fund to fight abuse and help abused animals. The fund has been named "The Adonis Fund" in rememberance of a terrible abuse case that took place 2002 in New Britain, Connecticut.
A cat by the name of Adonis was beaten to death as revenge for a disagreement that took place between roommates. The below story is inconceivable, but very real.

Authorities say Mazurek tortured her roommate's cat because she was angry at the roommate, Catherine Towles. In February, Mazurek allegedly marked the cat, an orange tabby named Adonis, with a marker, beat it with a log and beer bottles and tossed it into a lake several times.
Police said that Mazurek brought Adonis to Silver Lake in Berlin, where she allegedly beat the cat and repeatedly threw him in the water. The crippled cat struggled back to shore, and that's when Mazurek allegedly struck Adonis with beer bottles until he died, according to police. The cat was never found.
Mazurek was arrested for cruelty to animals and conspiracy to commit criminal trespass in the third degree. She signed a statement admitting to the incident but believes she did nothing wrong, police say.
She agreed to a plea agreement that called for a five-year sentence, suspended after four months, and three years of probation.
